He never posts me or tells anyone about us — is that normal?

Short answer: whether he posts you isn't the real test. The real test is whether he lets you exist in his world at all — meeting his friends and family, being seen with you offline, giving you a name when he introduces you.

Any single item can have an innocent explanation. The combination that carries weight is: intense in private, invisible in public. He's enjoying the substance of a relationship while keeping the relationship unseeable.

What it looks like

  • You've been together a while and have never met a single friend of his — and he doesn't create chances to
  • There is no trace of you anywhere on his social media
  • Different rules per platform — invisible on one, visible on another (ask who the audience is on each)
  • When he introduces you, the label stays vague: "a friend," "someone I know"

How to read it

  • 🟢 Your status is consistent everywhere; friends and family aren't off-limits; you are visible in his life
  • 🟡 There's a specific stated reason (e.g. not ready to tell family), a timeline, and full visibility everywhere else
  • 🔴 Invisible on every platform + friends off-limits + vague labels — and raising it gets you "you're overreacting." That's two signals stacking

What to do

  1. Separate the two questions he keeps merging: whether posting matters to him, and whether being known matters to you. His preference about social media is his to have. Your need to exist openly in his life is not something you have to justify or trade away.
  2. Run one low-cost test: in a natural moment around his people, mention the relationship plainly and watch whether he picks it up or dodges. That reflex can't be faked.
  3. Ask for a timeline once, directly: "When do I get to meet your friends?" Notice whether you receive a plan or a mood.
  4. Remember: a real reason for staying private comes with an explanation and an end date. Privacy with no reason and no end date is the reason. If you can't tell a real reason from a delay, tell herside what he actually said and let her line it up against the timeline.

Not sure? Walk her through the details — she'll read the pattern with you
